Crohn’s disease is an autoimmune inflammatory bowl disease that has the potential to affect any part and any depth of the gastrointestinal tract. It often leads to severe gastrointestinal pain which is occasionally associated with bleeding, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. There are times that the condition is worse, called “flares” that have been conventionally treated with anti-inflammatory medications as well as immune system modulating drugs.
Medical marijuana may possibly slow progression of the disease due to its anti-inflammatory properties in addition to alleviating cardinal symptoms of the disease such as pain, spasticity, nausea and vomiting.
